The cross of Christ Jesus is a problem to the world. It’s a problem in so many different ways, in many different contexts. Obviously, for other religions, the exclusivity of the cross presents a dire problem. For atheists, the cross is non-sense. For others it is simply a problem.

The Jews and the Greeks, in Pauls day, were not different. The Jews, says Paul, demand miraculous signs. Life for the Jew in Jesus’ day was hard. They were oppressed by the Romans and  even though they lived in their own land, aka the Promised Land, they were ruled over by pagans. They did not have their own king from the line of David on the throne ruling over them.
